Description
The little Church of Sant’ Eutizio, in the hamlet of Ocricchio, had already succumbed to earthquakes in the 18th century. It was rebuilt in 1736 and again in 1971, and finally once more after the earthquake of 1979.
It has preserved only one stone portal of 1627. The tiny bell tower was erected anew from the foundations and built detached from the Church itself. Inside, there is a single nave supported by two arches with a paneled, horizontal roof. The walls display two 17th-century paintings, one with the St. Anthony Abbot and St. Eutizio, the other with the Madonna of the Rosary. Faint traces of frescoes are proof of decoration, which has since disappeared.
The sacristy houses a wooden 16th century Madonna, formerly held in the left chapel, which has since be knocked down. There is a painting with Saints Eutizio, Anthony of Padua and the Madonna of Loreto. Finally, we can see a cracked bell dating back to 1508.
